Das Zentrale Innovationsprogramm Mittelstand (ZIM), which means “Central Innovation Programme for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)” is an industry and technology specific federal funding program.

ZIM aims to foster the innovative capacity and competition strengths of SMEs and thus to contribute to economic growth and the creation of new jobs.



The Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) is an appropriate supreme federal authority of the federal republic of Germany.

The tasks of the BMBF are various. On the one hand, the BMBF take significant responsibilities for legislation in various areas. On the other hand, the BMBF funds research projects in all areas of science.



German Federation of Industrial Research Associations, commonly known as AiF, is the leading national organization promoting applied research and development benefiting Germany’s small and medium-sized businesses.

AiF aims at initiating applied research and development (R&D) for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), as well as qualifying the new generation of academics in innovative fields and organizing the distribution of scientific knowledge.
